Rueda Workshop in Centreville, Virginia

Sunday, November 13th at The Ballroom in Centreville I'll be teaching a two hour Intro to Salsa Rueda Workshop. We'll begin at 4:30 pm sharp and continue through to 7:30 pm. Please bring dance shoes (sneakers are best) or non-marking soled shoes.

This is your chance to get a good understanding of the dance, the steps, the beginner moves, and the music most often used for dancing Cuban salsa. The class will cover:
 - What is rueda?
 - Starting the circle
 - How are calls made?
 - The basic steps
 - The beginning calls

When the class is finished we'll have time for practicing, questions, one-on-one practice, and fun.

Rueda is a great way to 1 - learn to dance salsa or 2 - add new moves and styles to what you already know. Rueda moves build upon each other and allow you to progress through your learning step-by-step. The moves you learn are often unique to salsa casino and allow you to add more flavor and sabor to your salsa dancing. It is also very sociable - many people who dance rueda find it a great way to build friendships, meet new people, and develop a group that is available for going out and getting together for dancing.

The workshop is $20 but you can RSVP at DC Rueda Meetup or Loudoun Latin Dance Meetup and pay only $20. Only those who RSVP in those places will get the discount so go ahead and join the groups.

Questions? Don't hesitate to let me know. I'll look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

  1. Hello Jenn,

I did a search on casino salsa in DC and stumbled on your excellent blog. I'm a frequent visitor to the area and have been an avid fan and student of casino salsa for about 4 years. I was hoping to make the class today Sunday November 27 at Chevy Chase Ballroom but the class was canceled. Would you happen to know where I might find a class for Monday evening?

    Many thanks,
    Biyi
